NEWS....The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County Wins Two Awards at the WEDU Be More AwardsTM

 The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County took home two WEDU Be More AwardsTM January 14th at the 5th annual WEDU Be More Awards ceremony.  The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County’s Executive Director proudly accepted WEDU’s Be More Knowledgeable Award for its “Look for the Stars” child care quality improvement program and WEDU’s Be More Informed Award for its LEAF (Literacy Empowers All Families) social marketing campaign to encourage parents to Talk, Listen and Read to their children.  Both of these programs support the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County’s mission, which is to integrate leadership and community resources to promote high quality early education and support. Mission: The Early Learning Coalition will integrate leadership and community resources to promote high quality early education and family support

Vision: We are a community that strengthens families and nurtures the learning potential of every child

The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County was first established in 1999 by legislation and currently administers a program of $11 million of local, state and federal funds for the purpose of ensuring that all children enter school ready to learn, with a solid foundation they need to grow and develop. The Coalition is responsible for administering the local School Readiness and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten programs. To fulfill its mission, the Early Learning Coalition oversees a broad range of services to enhance the quality of child care and preschool educational services for young children in Sarasota, serving over 4000 children and assisting over 225 child care providers each year.

  • Parents are given information and options for finding quality child care
  • Children are provided age appropriate developmental screenings and assessments
  • Child Care providers are offered a wide range of services to create and maintain high quality child care and preschool learning environments
